Remembrance Day tea slated Sunday

The Br. #29 Legion Ladies Auxiliary is pleased to announce its annual Remembrance Day tea will be held this Sunday (Nov. 4) from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Legion.
Admission is $4 adults and $2 for children under age seven.
As in past years, there will be an assortment of items offered for sale, including perogies, meat pies, baking, candy, and crafts.
This year, the main raffle prizes are $500 and $200 in gift certificates from local businesses. Tickets cost $2 each, which can be obtained from auxiliary members, the local Legion, or Dee’s Restaurant.
Refreshments will be served in the Legion Hall while the sales tables will be in the downstairs clubroom. In addition, patrons are encouraged to try their luck at the various draws offered.
This is a good opportunity for everyone to purchase some early Christmas gifts and tasty foods.
Any donations of baking, crafted items, or jewellery (see Josie Miller) would be greatly appreciated.
Contact Alfreda if you have any questions about the tea or if you can help out. We will be setting things up on Saturday night so if you can spare an hour or so, please join us at the Legion.
Members are reminded that since we no longer have any Bingo monies, it is vital that we have a successful tea and sale this year. The more items we have for sale, the more money we raise, which we then donate back to our community.
A reminder also that membership dues ($20) are now payable. And remember if you pay early, you are eligible for the early-bird draws.
The auxiliary’s next general meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Legion Hall. Elections for the 2008 executive will be held at that meeting.
Any member interested in serving on next year’s executive should contact Mary Ducharme for more information. If you cannot attend the meeting but wish to let your name stand, you must put your intentions in writing prior to the meeting.
Finally, with the Christmas season approaching, the auxiliary will be catering several banquets and volunteers are needed.
Again, please consider giving a couple of hours of your time to the auxiliary—we really appreciate it.
As always, the auxiliary urges everyone to come out to the cenotaph on Sunday, Nov. 11 for the services.
It is so important that we show our veterans that we care about them and the sacrifices they made so we can live in freedom. We owe them so much.
Please dress warmly and join us. Afterwards, everyone is invited to the Legion for lunch and fellowship.
We will remember them!
