Organizers of this year’s “Relay for Life” are inviting the public to a kick-of meeting next Tuesday (April 6) at 6 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous.
“The open meeting is for anybody who is interested in signing up a team, or volunteering or sitting on the committee,” explained Cindy Homer, who sits on the organizing committee for the annual event that sees teams walking from dusk until dawn to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year’s Relay for Life is slated for June 25, and once again will take place at Pither’s Point Park.
At next Tuesday’s meeting, people will have the opportunity to sign up their teams for this year’s “Relay,” or take home more information about participating in the event, Homer noted.
Those on hand also will be able to pick up luminary and survivor forms.
“We’ve chosen a theme of ‘Relay Around the World,’ and we’ll have a representative from the Canadian Cancer Society and have more information about the event,” said Homer, encouraging people to come out to support a worthy cause.
Since “Relay For Life” was first held in Fort Frances back in 2001, district residents have raised about $400,000 for the fight against cancer through the event.
Those interested in more information on this year’s “Relay For Life,” whether it’s signing up a team or volunteering, are encouraged to contact Homer at 274-9210.
