Registrations are now being accepted for the Seniors’ Fair being held Friday, Oct. 6 at the Sister Kennedy Centre.
To register, drop by the centre (401 Nelson St.) or call 274-7656.
Although there is no cost to attend the Seniors’ Fair, organizers will need to know numbers in order to arrange for catering.
An interesting day is planned, with doors opening at 9 a.m. when a wholesome coffee break will be available.
The program then will start at 10 a.m. with a presentation on fall prevention.
As seniors are at high risk for falling, this workshop will help to identify and eliminate potential risk and develop strategies to avoid falls.
The next presentation will be on community paramedicine. This program uses on-duty paramedics to assess seniors in their homes so they can get the right care from the right place.
Entertainment by Orville Councillor will round out the morning’s program.
A free lunch will be provided, followed by entertainment from the “Chirpy Chicks” of Stratton.
Ian Simpson, co-ordinator of the Age-Friendly Fort Frances project, will be the last speaker for the day.
He will discuss progress to date, as well as seek input on further direction for the Age-Friendly project.
In addition to the presentations, there will be a number of booths that will provide information of interest to seniors.
As well, attendance prizes will be provided.
