As Fort Frances and the rest of the Rainy River District creep ever closer to summer, it’s time once again to crown a new Mini King and Queen.
Registration has already opened for the annual event that sees two youth from across the district crowned the Mini King and Queen, a position that earns the royalty fun prizes and several opportunities to take part in local events like the Canada Day parade. The fun-filled event that will decide the new royalty is scheduled for Friday, June 19, at the Rainy Lake Square.
Mini King and Queen organizer Melissa Gushulak said that there are two remaining spots for girls and four spots left for boys interested in taking part in the annual event. Each participant must be between the ages of 4 and 7 as of July 1 this year and living in the Rainy River District. Registration costs $10, and each participant will also receive a fun goodie bag.
Gushulak said the format of the event will be similar to previous years, where participants will answer pre-asked questions on stage, with her there right next to them to give them a helping hand if they forget or start to get nervous.
There is also still time for local businesses and organizations to lend a hand through sponsorship, Gushulak noted, and anyone looking to support the event in any way is asked to reach out through her Facebook page.
