Registration for the 82nd Rainy River District festival of the Performing Arts is now open, and those performers in the district who are looking to show off their stuff are invited to apply.

Scheduled to run from Thursday, April 4, 2024, to Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Festival is once again opening up stages and performing areas around the district to help actors, singers and musicians to demonstrate their talent and receive helpful commentary and tips from distinguished adjudicators to help bring their craft to the next level.

Festival co-chair Marie Brady said the registration period is open now and will close on March 1, 2024, giving those in the district who are interested in taking part plenty of time to submit their applications. However, she did warn those applying to carefully check the 2024 syllabus, found on their website at ff-festival.com, as many of the categories and category numbers have been changed.

Brady said that the changes are the result of changes at the provincial level in Manitoba, owing to the fact that the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts is a member of the Associated Manitoba Arts Festival. The new Manitoba-based syllabus then informs the changes the local syllabus must make in order to remain in line.

The Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts is accepting registration forms, with appropriate entry fee, by mail, email, online or by dropping off completed forms in person at West End Motors in Fort Frances. The fee structure is also available on the Festival’s website, and runs from $10 for individual entries to $20 for groups and quick study entries. Application fees can also be paid online.
