Globeco International Inc. in Rainy River, along with at least three other regional grants, was among the 424 recently audited by Human Resources and Development Canada but not flagged for further review.
“No reason was identified by the auditors to focus special attention on the 424 files [which were selected at random],” HRDC stated in a report dated Feb. 7.
Globeco received $180,000 from the Transitional Jobs Fund.
Other regional grants that were audited included $4.36 million to Grand Council Treaty #3 under Aboriginal Programs, as well as $120,000 to Confederation College and $20,000 to the Thunder Bay Literacy Group under Learning & Literacy Programs.
But auditors did flag 37 grants for extensive study, which may result in findings or audit comments which are materially different from those in the initial reports.
“It must be emphasized that no conclusions can be drawn about these projects until more in-depth reviews now underway are completed and any issues resolved,” HRDC said Monday.
