The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service has been very busy over the last few days responding to at least a dozen grass fires in town limits since Thursday night.
The fires all have been in the north and east ends of town, Capt. Joe Bobczynski noted this morning.
Fortunately, all of them were stopped before they could damage property or endanger people, he added.
The most recent of the blazes occurred behind the Fort Frances Curling Club late last night.
Another was reported yesterday afternoon on Williams Avenue.
The public is reminded a fire ban remains in effect and that any lighting of open-air fires is forbidden, including the use of outdoor fireplaces and similar devices, said Capt. Bobczynski.
In related news, firefighters also responded to a fire on mill property here Saturday afternoon.
An electrical fire started in the engine on a remote locomotive.
It was extinguished without damage to mill property.
