Rash of accidents kept police busy

Rainy River District OPP officers responded to 68 calls for service between Friday and Sunday.
The calls were diverse but included a number of incidents related to the weather.
Some of the incidents officers worked on included:
•motor vehicle collisions;
•a property-related investigation;
•traffic-related complaints;
•thefts;
•assaults;
•trouble with youth; and
•domestic disturbances.
OPP officers also conducted four R.I.D.E. programs in the areas of Morley Township and Fort Frances.
Many of the accidents were related to the heavy snowfall and slippery road conditions.
One resulted when a female driver fell asleep while operating her vehicle, left the roadway, and collided with a fence.
She subsequently was charged with careless driving and driving while under suspension.
Police also want the public to be aware that four of the accidents involved wildlife.
