Ranier to be subject of centennial artworks

Artists from the U.S. and Canada are invited to gather on either side of the Ranier rapids on the afternoon of Sunday, July 27 and make Ranier the subject of an artwork.
The art will be displayed during the city’s centennial festival on Aug. 16.
Artists may gather in Seven Oaks park near the Duluth Street dock in Ranier, or at the “Lookout Tower” at Pither’s Point Park in Fort Frances, from 2-6 p.m.
Artists are encouraged to pack a picnic meal and bring their art supplies.
The results of this international endeavour to capture the flavour of Ranier on a typical summer afternoon will be displayed in the Ranier Community Building from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.
Historical images and artworks inspired by or made in Ranier also will be exhibited as part of the centennial festival.
For more information and to lend artworks, contact Pam Hawley in Fort Frances at 274-7891 or Douglas Skrief in Ranier at 1-218-286-3110.
