Rainycrest faces freeze on new admissions

The Ministry of Health and Long-term Care has directed the Community Care Access Centre for Kenora/Rainy River to cease admissions to Rainycrest Home for the Aged here.
Rainycrest administrator Jill Colquhoun said yesterday this action was issued because “there have been areas of non-compliance identified which concern the resident care and services.”^“The ministry is currently on-site with increased monitoring of staff and the services that are being provided,” she noted. “Systemic problems have been identified and we are working together to address the issues.”^The ministry and Rainycrest’s board of management, along with staff at the home, are developing a “positive course of action to address the issues relative to the provision of care and services,” added Colquhoun.
Admissions will remain suspended until the ministry is satisfied the areas for non-compliance have been addressed.
