Admissions at Rainycrest Home for the Aged here remain suspended while the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care continues to be on site monitoring resident care and services.
Last month, the Community Care Access Centre in Kenora was directed by the ministry to cease admissions to Rainycrest after specific standards for the delivery of care and services for all residents of Ontario were identified as not being met there.
Admissions will resume once the ministry is satisfied the home has adequately addressed issues relative to the provision of resident care and services.
A nursing consultant has been brought in to assist in the development of systems and processes which supports resident-centered care.
While Rainycrest administrator Jill Colquhoun was not able to elaborate on specific issues regarding the ministry’s investigation, areas of non-compliance were identified when she took over the position in January.
The ministry and Rainycrest’s board of management have been working together to address the identified issues.
The Rainycrest board of management is committed to developing a philosophy of resident-centered care, noted Colquhoun.
Both the Community Care Access Centre and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care have been contacted by the Times, but both refused comment while the areas of non-compliance still are being addressed.
