The Rainy River Girl Guides Unit 36 hosted its first enrolment ceremony last week.
During the ceremony, the 23 members (Sparks ages five-six, Brownies ages seven-eight, and Guides ages nine-12) received official enrolment and also received the badges they have been working towards.
“I am proud we have brought this program to our small town and encourage more girls to join,” said leader Jennifer Newman.
“And also I want to invite interested adults to come out and volunteer to lead these Guides, and have a positive impact on their lives,” she noted.
“It was the first year for Girl Guides in Rainy River in 15-20 years,” added Newman.
“We are amazed at all the girls that signed up.”
Rainy River recreation director Jenna Yeo gave a huge thank you to Newman and fellow volunteers Lisa Barrett, Crystal Stamler, and Mandy Blake.
“Without these amazing volunteers, we would not have this amazing opportunity for these girls,” Yeo stressed.
“Cookie season will be coming up in the spring, so everyone keep your eyes open and support the youth involved,” she urged.
