Quilt club changes name

The Sew ’n Sews Quilt Club, after discussing a name change at its October meeting, voted to change the name to “Cabin Country Quilt Guild.”
The guild has been busy sewing for the “Luncheon of Hope” and the “Spirit of Christmas.” The quilts are completed and tickets are now for sale.
The “Luncheon of Hope” quilt will be drawn this Saturday (Oct. 22) at the luncheon, which is being held at La Place Rendez-Vous.
The guild also has invited Nellie Holmes, a quilter from Brockville, Ont. who teaches, lectures, and presents her trunk show across Canada.
Her lecture and trunk show is a lively hour of sharing her love of folk art quilt-making.
This will take place Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the J.W. Walker School gym. Everyone is welcome to attend, with admission being $5 each.
The guild also will be displaying quilts and serving tea/coffee after the show.
Holmes also will be teaching at Crazy Ladies.
Our next meeting is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Living Activity Centre (990 Scott St.) We will be able to meet Holmes then.
A reminder that the fat quarter for November is navy or burgundy or green. Also, two more blocks are to be completed for a Quilter’s Garden.
Our weekend quilting will be held Friday, Oct. 28 from 6-10 p.m. and again Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Activity Centre. Bring your own sewing to work on.
