Tickets for “Quest for the Best” have been selling steadily, organizer Dawn Booth reported yesterday, but she stressed the July 25 event has not sold out yet.
“They’re going very well but people seemed to think that we’re sold-out,” said Booth. “We’ve actually had people come in [to the Chamber of Commerce office] and say that they heard somewhere that we’re sold-out and are surprised to find out we’re not.”
But she added with the popular event only two weeks away, she’s optimistic “Quest” could sell out if the 1,000-plus who attended in 1999–the last time it was held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship–is any indication.
Tickets cost $10, or $12 at the door (if there’s any left).
In the meantime, Booth noted the Chamber is getting ready for contest, which will feature 20 district acts (15 soloists and five duets) vying for cash prizes under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
“We’ll hopefully get everything done in the next little while–making arrangements for rehearsal time for contestants, rounding up volunteers, and that sort of thing,” she said.
Booth added volunteers for this event are handled by “Quest” organizers and not the bass committee. “We use our directors and staff, as well as volunteers from the community who have worked it before,” she remarked.
“Quest” begins at 7 p.m., and is co-sponsored by the Chamber and CFOB.
