Organizers are encouraging people to get their tickets for the always-popular “Quest for the Best” at the Chamber of Commerce office before it sells out.
“We’ve already sold some,” Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said only an hour after the tickets went on sale yesterday morning.
The tickets for the singing contest, which is slated July 24 at 7 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, cost $12 in advance and $15 at the door—if there’s any left.
About 1,300 tickets have been printed.
This year’s lineup will feature 18 entries, including three duets. “We were looking for 20 but we had to have a deadline. The band needs to get working on the music,” noted Booth.
Duets have become increasingly popular since first introduced as an option for “Quest” competitors in 2000, she added.
But as to who will be performing what songs won’t be revealed until closer to the concert date, said Booth, but assuring the crowd once again will see a good variety of styles.
The first-place prize is $500, followed by $300 for second place and $200 for third. Other categories, such as People’s Choice and Most Original, fetch $100 each.
