‘Quest’ entry deadline extended

The deadline to enter this year’s “Quest for the Best” has been extended to tomorrow (June 23) as organizers look for a few more singers to compete.
Chamber manager Anthony Mason said 15 people had signed up prior to the original June 18 deadline, but he’s still hoping for a full lineup of 20.
Those interested must fill out an entry form and turn it in at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) by the end of closing time tomorrow.
The entry fee is $25 ($35 for a duet), and contestants must be aged 13 and older.
“Quest for the Best” will be held Thursday, July 22 starting at 7 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena, in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
But Mason said he must know who’s competing, and what they’re singing, far in advance so the back-up band can learn all the songs.
Local band “Kings of None” will perform afterwards.
“Quest” tickets, costing $15 each, are expected to be available by the end of this week at the Chamber office.
There also will be VIP seating for the event (call the Chamber at 274-5773 to find out more).
Meanwhile, tickets are still available for the rest of the nighttime entertainment at this year’s FFCBC.
Country star George Canyon will take the stage at the Ice For Kids Arena on Friday, July 23 at 10:30 p.m. (Canyon’s opening act will be Julian Austin.)
And the Saturday night of the bass tournament (July 24) will see Winnipeg-based “Pushing Daisies” and Hamilton’s “A is A.”
Tickets for the Friday and Saturday night shows, which cost $50 for both in advance, are available at Safeway, Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce, Sight & Sound, and Cloverleaf in Emo.
