‘Quest’ competitors announced

With tickets on sale as of Monday, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is expecting to see excitement building over “Quest for the Best,” which is scheduled to take place July 23 (in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship) under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
“Quest” organizer Dawn Booth said tickets started moving immediately Monday, and she expects to see them continue to sell that way until the day of the event, as more than 1,200 people attended the singing contest last year.
“We’ve sold out every year we’ve had ‘Quest,’” she remarked, adding people who really want to see the show shouldn’t hesitate.
She noted the cost is the same as last year—$12 in advance and $15 at the door, and can be purchased at the Chamber office. (474 Scott St., across from Canada Safeway).
Booth also revealed this year’s contestants line-up, which consists of 19 solo performances, and two duets. Some of the faces are new, while others are “Quest” competitors and past champs who’ve returned to show everyone they’re still among “the best.”^The competitors include: Sarah Hebert, Jodie Allan, Charles Fisher, Don “Hollywood” Hyatt, Jamie Lockman, Michele Kaczmar, Susie Grynol and Erika Fagerdahl.
They’re joined by Heather Newman, Karl Martinson, Adrian Indian, R.J. Comeau, Jeremy Wilson, Christina Sletmoen, Debbie Connon, Alyson Booth, Jason Godin, Cara Coran and Wayne Lawres.
And the duets of Chrsiti and Kelly Moulik, and Kim and Christine Badiuk will round out the line-up.
Contestants will be vying for first-place ($500), second-place ($300), and third-place ($200) purses, as well as cash prizes for two People’s Choice, Contestants’ Choice, Most Original, and Audience Response awards.
One thing different this year is that “Quest” will be followed by more entertainment—in this case, adult hypnotist Tyzen Paley—so those who buy a ticket for “Quest” can stay for the second show.
This show, which is “adult-oriented,” is sponsored by the FFCBC.
