Town council will begin its 2012 budget process tonight with an open meeting to get input from the public.
Two speakers are on the agenda to share their ideas as to what they’d like to see in the budget.
Elaine Fischer will speak on behalf of the Active Transportation Committee (ATC), which has been involved in exercises such as the recent “community safety zone” on King’s Highway.
It also was instrumental in developing a comprehensive active transportation plan a few years ago.
During council’s strategic planning process this past summer, the ATC requested council integrate active transportation in the town’s budget and infrastructure process, and that council renew its commitment to follow up on the recommendations of the ATC and implement its recommended actions and programs.
The second presenter is local resident Wayne Lundstrom, who will speak on sidewalk snow removal.
While the town prefers if delegations get on the agenda ahead of time, the rest of the public is welcome to attend tonight’s meeting and, at the discretion of council, may step to the microphone to offer their input if they so choose.
Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes each.
The public meeting regarding the 2012 budget is scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m.
The public portion of this evening’s committee of the whole meeting is scheduled to start at 5:50 p.m.
It will meet in-camera first at 5:30 p.m.
