Public input sought on 2019 town budget

Want to provide input into the town’s 2019 budget? You had better act fast.
As the new town council gets underway with the 2019 budget process, citizens are invited next Monday (Dec. 10) to present their requests to council regarding municipal services and projects they’d like to see supported in the coming year.
Anyone wanting to make a presentation at the Dec. 10 meeting is requested to register with town clerk Lisa Slomke prior to noon this Thursday (Dec. 6) for scheduling purposes.
“We encourage the citizens to present operational requests to council,” she told the Times. “It has to be regarding municipal services.
“Council will consider it as part of the 2019 budget.
“You can either write in to us, as long as we have it prior to noon on Thursday, Dec. 6, or you can call us and tell us you’re going to attend the meeting and we’ll schedule you accordingly,” Slomke said.
“It’s a great way for council to hear from the constituents as to the kind of things they want or don’t want in their community for 2019 and beyond,” she noted.
Slomke said this is the official public opportunity to submit budget input and, in a way, an official kick-off to the budget process–although management has been working on their respective division budgets for a few months.
The new council, on an executive committee level, will start tackling the budget in the new year.
Documents and materials for distribution to council are to be filed with Slomke at the time of registering.
Roughly 10 minutes will be provided per presentation.
You can contact Slomke by calling her at 274-5323 ext. 1215, faxing her at 274-8479,or e-mailing her at
A list of those persons registered, and the time they’re scheduled to present, will be available after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in the agenda posted on the town’s website.
