With students already back in classes, public school trustees are heading back with the first board meeting of the fall school year slated for tonight at 7 p.m. at the board office in Fort Frances.
This month, the Rainy River District School Board’s recognition of excellence will be for the Sunset Country Regional Science Fair that took place back in April of 2010.
Presentations for the evening include one on the Young Women’s Conference which took place at the end of this past May, as well as Challenge 2010—a similar program that was run for young men.
As per the Municipal Election Act, the board is also set to approve a motion to appoint Dean Carrie, Chris Howarth and Erica Bailey to the Compliance Audit Committee to serve the Rainy River District School Board.
As part of this, board will also be looking to approve an agreement to establish a Compliance Audit Committee with the Keewatin Patricia School Board, Kenora Catholic District School Board and Northwest Catholic District School Board.
There also will be an update on the various Information Technology projects undertaken over the summer, and what is planned in the upcoming year.
The board will also hear a report on the Transportation Two-Stage Pilot Project, as well as an update on the summer learning programs (Literacy Camps, Aboriginal Summer Literacy Programming, Credit Recovery program and paid co-op programs) which took place over the summer.
An update will also be given on the various upgrades, repairs and projects that took place over the summer at the different schools and facilities.
