The accolades just keep coming for local artist Cher Pruys.
Her photorealistic painting, “Crushed,” recently won first place in the Society of Canadian Artists’ elected member show, which opened Sept. 9 and runs through Oct. 2 at The Leyton Gallery of Fine Art in St. John’s, Nfld.
The show is entitled “Be Square” as the works are all 12” or 24” square, explained Pruys.
“I was lucky to be able to attend the opening and do some sightseeing in Newfoundland,” she added.
“I got some great material for new works.”
Pruys said she’s also very excited to be included in the September issue of American Art Collector magazine.
Her work, “Illuminated Vessels,” is featured prominently in an article about the International Guild of Realism’s 11th-annual juried exhibition at the prestigious Gallery 1261 in Denver, Colo.
