Fifth Street West will be restricted to local traffic for today and tomorrow from Portage Avenue to Wright Avenue in preparation for the upcoming surface treatment next week.
Town crews will be grinding the road surface, grading the road, adjusting valve boxes, and watering (dust control), Environmental and Facilities Superintendent Doug Herr said in an e-mail yesterday afternoon.
The closure will allow town crews to work in a safe manner while reducing the amount of dust created by vehicle traffic driving over the newly-placed granular material, he noted.
The work started at 7:30 a.m. today and will do so again tomorrow.
It will be completed by 4 p.m. each day, with the street re-opening to traffic at that time.
