Constituents are invited to share their thoughts and views with local MP Don Rusnak on how best to deliver on an economic agenda to grow the economy and create long-term prosperity for the middle class.
Pre-budget consultations will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Rainy River Legion and then at 1:30 p.m. at the Couchiching multi-use facility.
This is an opportunity for community stakeholders from surrounding municipalities and indigenous communities to express their concerns and priorities for the upcoming federal budget.
Delivering on the Liberal government’s pledge of openness and transparency, these two round-tables are part of a nation-wide consultation launched by Finance minister Bill Morneau back on Jan. 6.
Topics of discussion can range from helping families make ends meet and supporting those who need it most to making the right investments in infrastructure in order to create jobs, protect the environment, and keep our communities moving.
Participants at each session will be given a first-hand overview of the challenges facing the economy, and asked to identify opportunities that will help build more prosperous communities while ensuring long-term, sustainable economic growth.
They also will be presented with a summary of the government’s plans to create jobs, invest in infrastructure, and support middle-class families, as well as those working hard to join the middle class, while ensuring a return to balanced budgets by the end of its mandate.
Input received will be sent to Morneau, who, in turn, will work with all MPs to implement an ambitious economic agenda that reflects the kind of real change Canadians have asked their government to deliver.
