The provincial Special Investigations Unit has been called upon to investigate a shooting that occurred early yesterday morning at Whitefish Bay.
Sioux Lookout OPP responded to a request for assistance from the Lac Seul Police Service after a report of a suspect firing shots at the reserve.
The OPP’s Emergency Response Team and Incident Command Unit attended the scene.
Subsequently, the suspect confronted police.
As a result of injuries sustained, he was transported to the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre by ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Criminal Investigation Branch of the OPP is investigating a separate related death that occurred at the residence.
Names are not being released pending notification of next of kin.
