Police help out bear cub

the OPP

Sioux Lookout OPP officers were dispatched to a report of several bears in a residential area of Sioux Lookout earlier today.
One of the bears was reported to have a plastic container on its head.
Two constables attended the area and located a young bear cub in distress with its head stuck in a mayonnaise jar.
One of the officers approached the bear and wrestled the jar from its head while the other officer kept a watchful eye on the mother bear in the nearby woods.
Neither officer was injured during the incident, and the bear appeared to be fine when it ran off into the woods.
Anyone wishing to report a nuisance bear is reminded to call the Ministry of Natural Resources’ hotline at 1-866-514-2327 or the OPP’s Provincial Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122.
