‘Polar Plunge’ recruiting

Val Martindale

Thinking about Hallowe’en? Well, why not also think “Polar Plunge?”
That’s two scary ideas in one!
The Voyageur Lions Club wants you to jump in the lake on New Year’s Day and, to give you a head start, there will be pre-registration on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market.
This year’s challenge is to have 60 jumpers brave the icy waters of Rainy Lake on Jan. 1.
All individuals and non-profit groups are invited to sign up for this year’s jump. There will be pledge forms and information packages available at the farmers’ market.
For those who sign up at this early registration on Oct. 31, additional incentives will be offered. For instance, groups will get a chance to earn an additional $300.
If you are not a jumper, you can make a pledge. The Voyageur Lion will be on hand, and there will be a chance for everyone to “Plunge for Prizes!”
The “Polar Plunge” has been sponsored by the Voyageur Lions Club for nine years, and during that time more than $60,000 has been returned to community youth groups and charities.
Help make this year’s plunge the biggest yet.
If you cannot be at the farmers’ market to sign up on Oct. 31, call Lion Jim Martindale at 274-7829 for more information or to
register.
