‘Polar Plunge’ is a go

Dress warm, everybody, because it’s a go.
There was some concern Thursday that the annual “Polar Plunge,” slated for New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. on Sand Bay behind La Place Rendez-Vous, would have to be cancelled due to poor ice conditions.
But organizers have found a safe spot to cut a hole in the ice, Val Martindale noted Friday morning.
She stressed all safety precautions are being taken.
“The safety of the jumpers is out first priority,” Martindale remarked. “We are taking every necessary precaution.”
The event is being staged by the Voyageur Lions Club, with proceeds going towards local youth activities and community projects.
Participants are urged to show up around 11 a.m. on Sunday with their pledge forms and money.
