Fort Frances Coun. Douglas Judson has, over a few months, gathered about 300 signatures to petition the town to have an outdoor splash pad water park.

In his letter to the town clerk, Judson said the Town of Fort Frances is in dire need of improved recreational amenities and tourism assets for youth, children and families.

“We call upon Council of the Town of Fort Frances to designate an appropriate location for a splash pad water park and for the necessary expenditures to be costed in 2021, and budgeted starting in the 2022 capital budget, for a splash pad to be constructed and operated by the municipality no later than 2023,” he wrote in the letter.

Council approved to have the petition be referred to the Planning and Development Executive Committee for recommendation, with input from the Operations and Facilities Executive Committee.
