Pet of the Week

Welcome to the debut of “Pet of the Week”. This column is designed to feature a pet available for adoption in the Rainy River District through Paws and Claws Canada. However, before we move on to feature this week’s pet…we have news. During the coming days we will be officially changing our name from “Paws and Claws Canada” to “Best for Kitty.” We are doing this mainly for two reasons.

1. We want our name to reflect clearly that we are a “cat rescue”. We get a lot of inquiries about dogs and that is simply not what we do.

2. We want to separate ourselves from Paws and Claws Koochiching County in International Falls. This organization has been a huge help to us in getting started and that is why we originally used a derivative of their name. We were not sure if we could “make a go of it” and they had our back as we got started. We appreciate the help of Cindy Meyer and her organization and we will be forever in their debt. We now feel we are established enough to move forward on our own. We know that once the border reopens (whenever that may be) our organizations will continue to work together to help the kitties of Borderland.

And now on to our featured pet. Cosmo is looking for her forever home. She is 5-6 months old and is such a sweet girl. She plays hard and snuggles when it’s quiet time. She can be timid until she feels comfortable in her surroundings. She is currently loving the undivided attention from her foster Mom. Ideally we want her to be the only pet in a home. Cosmo has not done very well when placed with other cats so we have decided that she should be adopted as the only cat in her home. Cosmo has had her vaccination and booster already and is scheduled to be spayed in early April. If you would like to know more about Cosmo, send us a message. Our new email address is or call 275-9753. Our adoption fee includes initial shots and spay/neuter.
