The paving of King’s Highway between Wright Avenue and Cornwall Avenue is expected to begin early next week, weather permitting.
Pioneer Construction, which has been subcontracted by Bay City Contractors, is scheduled to put down the second lift of asphalt on Monday, Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown told the Times this morning.
But he stressed the job will depend on weather conditions—they can’t pave in the rain.
It is expected to take three days to pave the length of highway, which received its first lift of asphalt last fall.
The highway will remain open to traffic during paving.
Line painting likely will follow later this month, although dates for that haven’t been confirmed yet.
Then next Friday, Pioneer will pave Nelson Street from Butler Avenue to the Shevlin wood yard, where Bay City recently put in new curbs and gutters.
The contractor did sewer and water replacement work there last year.
Meanwhile, Bay City is continuing water and sewer replacement work on Phair Avenue from Third Street to Fifth Street East.
Makkinga Contracting & Equipment Rentals, meanwhile, has begun similar work on Colonization Road East between Scott Street and Second Street East.
