Pair unhurt in floatplane crash

No injuries were reported after a floatplane crashed while trying to take off from the U.S. side of the Rainy River late yesterday morning.
The Yello RANS S-7 “ran out of air” as it took off, the Koochiching County Police Department reported this morning.
Two people were on board at the time, having just cleared Customs.
The call reporting the crash came in to police at 10:52 a.m.
The OPP was on hand to assist, as well as a private party with a boat that brought the plane’s occupants to shore.
The half-submerged plane could be seen from the Canadian side of the river all day yesterday, but it had been removed from the water as of this morning.
