Pair charged with impaired driving

Shortly after 3 a.m. today, the Fort Frances OPP received a report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Scott Street.
The vehicle was located by police and a 37-year-old Alberton Township man subsequently was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 24.
Meanwhile, around 10:30 p.m. yesterday, Fort Frances OPP officers arrested a male driver on Frog Creek Road.
The 44-year-old Couchiching First Nation subsequently was charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
He was released from custody and also will appear in court July 24.
In other police news, the Atikokan OPP is seeking public assistance in solving a break and enter.
Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 3 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, suspects entered the Northern Variety convenience store on O’Brien Street.
Once inside, the culprits stole an undisclosed amount of money.
