Orchestra to stage three concerts

Staff

The Borderland Community Orchestra will stage three concerts this month, including one at the Townshend Theatre here on May 22 at 7 p.m.
Admission is $12 at the door, with children under 12 being free.
Its first concert is set for May 15 at Rainy River High School, with the third one slated for May 29 at the Barwick Community Centre.
The theme this year is “Fairy Tales and Magical Stories.”
Some of the musical pieces include “Scheherazade” by Rimsky, featuring soon-to-be-graduate Mika Kooistra, highlights from “Wicked,” the popular Broadway show, and “Rusticana” by Peter Mascagni, dedicated to Bruce Murray, one of orchestra’s biggest fans.
Special guests will be Bel Canto, the Borderland Choir (which will be performing “When You Believe” from the “Prince of Egypt”), and the Rainy River High School band.
