Youths wanting to get a taste of what it’s like to work with the local police will have their chance this summer as the Fort Frances OPP is looking to hire three students.
Under the Youth in Policing Initiative, the OPP will be hiring two students aged 14-17 for the eight-week summer program.
They will perform community patrols, work at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, and accompany officers during marine patrols and other on-the-job training tasks.
The OPP also will be hiring one student aged 15-24 under the Summer Experience Program.
This position is for up to eight weeks maximum, and students must be returning to school in the fall.
They will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week, and will work at the bass tournament as well as participate in marine patrols and other on-the-job training.

The closing date for applications is June 10, with interviews to be held beginning June 17.
