Around 3:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday, officers from the Atikokan detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a speeding vehicle on Highway 11 near Price Creek.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle had earlier been reported stolen by the North Bay Police Service.
The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old Chisholm Township man, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, breach of probation, driving a motor vehicle with no licence, and speeding.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 19 year-old North Bay woman, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The couple has been remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later time.
In other police news, on April 15, shortly after 9 p.m., officers from the Emo detachment of the OPP investigated a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hill Road and Frog Creek Road.
The driver of a sport utility vehicle lost control of his vehicle causing damage to a fence and private property. As a result of that investigation police have charged a 32-year-old Fort Frances man with driving a motor vehicle with no insurance, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and disobeying a stop sign.
The OPP would also like to remind the public that the Spring Seatbelt Campaign is in full swing. Officers will continue to be highly visible throughout the week, focusing their efforts on those people who choose not to wear their seatbelts or fail to ensure that their child passengers are properly restrained.
