The Rainy River District OPP is pleased to announce summer student opportunities.
We are seeking individuals to apply for summer student employment opportunities, including one position of marine assistant.
The position, offering a salary $10.25 per hour, commences July 3 and ends on or about Aug. 17.
One student will assist the OPP with marine policing, enforcement, collision investigations, and disabled vessels in distress.
The student will help officers conduct marine checks on recreational boaters for safety equipment, personal water craft licences, and safe operations of vessels, as well as assist in community policing functions.
Duties will include performing administrative activities, such as preparing correspondence, as well as performing data entry and word processing functions.
Responsibilities will require planning, organizing events, co-ordination, and managing of daily assigned work.
We are looking for one individual who currently is enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary school, or has completed all academic requirements for graduation within six months prior to May, 2011.
We are seeking an applicant who demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, technical skills, organizational skills, and leadership abilities.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum Ontario G2 driver’s licence with an excellent record, have successfully obtained a Pleasure Craft Operators Card, and CPR and First Aid qualifications.
Candidates also must successfully complete the recruitment/background check process.
In addition, marine assistant positions are available in the following North West Region OPP detachment areas:
•Kenora OPP (two positions); and
•Dryden OPP (one position).
