OPP lay murder charge

On Aug. 30, the Treaty #3 Police Service requested the assistance of the OPP with a suspicious death investigation.
An investigation was commenced with members from the Treaty #3 Police Service, OPP North West Region Crime Unit, and OPP Forensic Identification Services under the direction of Det. Insp. Darryl Sigouin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
At that time, Stacy Comegan, 26, of Big Grassy River First Nation, was charged with indignity to a dead body.
On Sept. 5, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.
The victim was identified as Danielle Big George, 23, of Big Island First Nation.
On Sept. 25, Comegan was arrested in Winnipeg, with the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Service, and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Big George.
He was transported back to Fort Frances.
He appeared in court here yesterday and was remanded into custody.
