‘Operation Christmas Child’ returning

Press Release

Hope in a shoe box!
The 2009 national collection week for “Operation Christmas Child” is Nov. 16-21.
This year, the area co-ordinating collection centre will be located at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Frances (behind the Adventure Inn).
A kick-off event will be held tomorrow (Oct. 1) from 2-8 p.m., at which time anyone can pick up boxes, learn more about the program, and have any questions answered.
It would be wonderful to have more collection centres in our surrounding areas.
Businesses and any churches from Rainy River District that want to be established as an intermediary centre for the pick-up and collection of shoe boxes can call with any questions regarding your responsibilities as a collection centre.
Community groups and schools can call ahead and we can have your materials ready.
So far, our area collection centres are Northland Basics and The Bargain Store in Fort Frances, Tompkins Hardware and Calvary Baptist in Emo, and Carolyn Kreger at Trinity Lutheran in Bergland (488-5714).
To apply to become a collection centre or if you have any questions, call Della McQuaker, the Fort Frances collection centre co-ordinator, at 486-3595 or Pastor Dave at Bethel Baptist Church (274-5569).
