‘Old Bags Lunch’ sold out

If you had plans to attend the second-annual “Old Bags Lunch” this Saturday but haven’t bought your tickets by now, you’re out of luck.
Joan Allison, who chairs the special events committee of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care, said yesterday the event is sold out, with 160 people expected to attend, not including more than a dozen Foundation volunteers.
The luncheon will get underway at noon in the cafeteria at Fort Frances High School with a yummy bag lunch.
There also will be lots of fun and games on tap to bag bags, including silent auctions, “Designer’s Corner,” last year’s popular “Bag or No Bag,” and this year’s new game, “Are you Smarter Than an Old Bag?”
“I think that we probably have 150-plus bags,” Allison noted, adding these range from new bags, old bags, slightly-used bags, handcrafted bags, quilted bags, evening bags, and even 30 reusable shopping bags donated by Canadian Tire.
“Hopefully, there will be a bag for everybody there,” she added.
All proceeds from the event will support medical equipment needs at La Verendrye Hospital, Emo Health Centre, Rainy River Health Centre, and Rainycrest.
