Northwoods Gallery and Gifts is moving – upstairs that is.
After months of renovations, owner/operator Connie Cuthbertson will unveil the second floor of their Scott Street store at a ribbon-cutting at noon on Thursday.
“We’re moving upstairs. There is over 800 square feet that we are turning into a gallery and furniture and more home accessories,” Cuthbertson said this morning.
Former building owner Bruce Murray will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“He gave me my first job in retail and I thought it would be nice to include him,” Cuthbertson said.
Plans for the renovations started in January as Cuthbertson turned the unfinished second floor into a showroom.
“It was pretty rough up there. Nothing was finished, not the walls, ceiling, floors,” she noted. “We had to put in new gyproc, floors, and stairs.”
The new floor will allow for a gallery for Cuthbertson’s original artwork and framed prints. Larger items such as furniture also will be moved upstairs.
With the extra space, Cuthbertson said she has been able to add a corner for sports fans that includes NHL and NASCAR collectibles as well as an expanded kitchenware line.
“We’re really excited about the expansion,” she noted. “And everyone we talk to seems really excited that can’t wait to see it.”
