North West LHIN names new CEO

Press Release

The board of directors is very pleased to announce the appointment Laura Kokocinski as the chief executive officer of the North West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
She will assume the CEO position effective Sept. 1.
Kokocinski was appointed following a rigorous and comprehensive national search process after having been appointed as the interim CEO back in February.
She previously served as the senior director, Planning, Integration and Community Engagement, since January, 2006.
Kokocinski is a lifelong resident of Northwestern Ontario and has extensive leadership experience in the education and health care sectors, including acute care, long-term care, and community care.
Her extensive background in the integrated delivery of health services in Northwestern Ontario has given her a solid understanding of our region.
In addition to having held the positions of vice-president (Health Services) at the Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout, executive director of the Community Care Access Centre of the District of Thunder Bay, and director of Continuing Education with Confederation College, she brings a strong background in leadership, education, policy development, and research.
“Laura is a highly-skilled communicator and transformational leader!” enthused Janice Beazley, chair of the North West LHIN board of directors.
“Her leadership efforts throughout her career have demonstrated clear and sustained impact while supporting positive stakeholder interactions.
“Laura’s track record in Northwestern Ontario speaks for itself–she combines a focus that seeks to innovate with a leadership style that is flexible and open-minded in fostering collaborative relationships,” Beazley added.
“Her knowledge and passion in understanding the factors that make a northern health care context unique make her the right leader for the North West LHIN.”
