The water restrictions imposed by the Town of Fort Frances on Tuesday morning have been lifted according to a Facebook post at around 11 a.m. Thursday.
The restriction on watering lawns, washing cars, filling swimming pools and other non-essential uses of water was imposed after the town’s water supply dipped below an optimal level.
On Tuesday, Environmental Superintendent Ram Dokala said the water level dropped unexpectedly Monday night when no direct cause was discovered, the drop was attributed to increased non-essential use caused by the 30-degree temperatures.
The Legion Park splash pad was closed Tuesday morning but reopened later that day.
Residents are reminded that calendar water restrictions remain in place for non-essential water use. Odd civic numbers can make use of water for non-essential purposes on odd dates, while even numbered civic numbers should limit their non-essential water activities to even calendar dates.
A Facebook post from the township of Emo on Wednesday reminded residents of their rules around non-essential water use. “Residents living south of the railroad tracks may water lawns, etc. on even calendar days; and residents north of the railroad tracks on odd calendar days.
