Plans are underway for the 14th-annual Bell Business Awards coming up Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Adventure Inn here.
But what the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce now needs is nominations for businesses to win those awards.
Chamber manager Anthony Mason said yesterday afternoon that very few nomination forms have come in yet.
As such, he highly encourages people to pick up nomination forms at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) or download one from their website at www.fortfranceschamber.com
They then are asked to fill out those forms to nominate a business or individual they feel is deserving in any of the following 11 categories:
•Business of the Year (1-15 employees);
•Business of the Year (16+ employees);
•Entrepreneur of the Year;
•Small Business Trainer of the Year;
•Business Woman of the Year;
•Customer Service (business);
•Customer Service (individual);
•Employee of the Year;
•Tony Beyak Memorial Volunteer of the Year;
•Safety Award (business/individual); and
•Accessibility Award.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, Jan. 15.
Mason noted businesses do not have to belong to the local Commerce to be eligible to win, and nominees don’t even have to be from Fort Frances, but anywhere in Rainy River District.
In fact, many past winners have been district individuals and businesses.
In other news, Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak and Randy Hillier, the party’s critic for northern development, mines and forestry, will meet with community leaders and the local Chamber to discuss the Ontario PC Northern Ontario Jobs Plan this Thursday (Jan. 7) at a luncheon at La Place Rendez-Vous.
