With its 22nd-annual business awards coming up next month, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is asking that individuals and businesses take a moment to nominate a deserving person or business for one of the many awards up for grabs this year.
The award categories include:
•Business Woman of the Year;
•New Business Award (one-three years);
•Customer Service Award (Business);
•Customer Service Award (Individual);
•Home-Based Business Award;
•Small Business Trainer of the Year;
•Test of Time Award (new category);
•Business of the Year (one-15 employees); and
•Business of the Year (16+ employees)
“This is your chance to nominate and recognize the achievements of successful local businesspeople, and the contributions they make to the economic growth and prosperity of the Rainy River District,” FFCC executive director Jennifer Soderholm wrote in an e-mail to Chamber members sent out Friday.
The nomination form can be accessed on the Chamber’s website at http://fortfranceschamber.com/events/business-awards
Soderholm noted there are two links on the website.
The first will take you to a Google doc form that can be filled out and submitted online while the second link will take you to a printable form that can be filled out manually.
“If you would like to have some printed forms at your business for customers, please call or e-mail the Chamber office and we will drop some off,” Soderholm wrote.
The last day for nomination form submissions is Friday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m.
Soderholm noted the process for winner selections has been changed this year. It no longer will be done in a voting process but rather the winners will be selected by impartial judges from the business community.
She added the Project and Events Committee has spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the whole business awards event, and has made quite a number of changes, so this year’s event will have a completely new look and feel.
The business awards will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at La Place Rendez-Vous, with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30.
Tickets will be available soon for $60 each for Chamber members (or a table of eight can be purchased for $420) and $65 each for non-Chamber members (or a table of eight can be purchased for $455).
The meal will feature a fresh tossed garden salad, followed by the main course of herb and dijon mustard-encrusted ‘AAA’ prime rib, served with thyme and rosemary infused au jus, along with garlic mashed potatoes, green beans almandine, and dinner rolls.
To finish off the meal, the dessert will be a decadent chocolate cake with ganache.
