Nominations for business awards coming out soon

While the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s annual business awards gala won’t be held until Nov. 6, it’s not too early for district businesses and their customers to put on their thinking caps and start thinking about who they might want to nominate.
Chamber manager Dawn Booth said this morning she’s working on this year’s nomination forms right now—and they’ll be out the first week of September.
They’ll be available at the local Chamber office on Scott Street (across from Safeway), as well as at various locations across the district and the Chamber’s website at www.fortfranceschamber.com
While the categories have tended to change a little bit each year, they’ll stay the same this time around, noted Booth.
Categories will include:
•Business of the Year (1-15 employees);
•Business of the Year (16+ employees);
•Entrepreneur of the Year;
•Small Business Trainer of the Year;
•Business Woman of the Year;
•Customer Service (business);
•Customer Service (individual);
•Employee of the Year;
•Tony Beyak Memorial Volunteer of the Year;
•Safety Award (business/individual); and
•Accessibility Award.
As in past years, nominees don’t have to be from Fort Frances, but anywhere in Rainy River District. In fact, many past winners have been district individuals and businesses.
The nomination deadline will be Oct. 17.
The 13th-annual awards gala will be held at La Place Rendez-Vous and will be much like other years, said Booth.
Although the awards have individual sponsors, the event’s exclusive sponsor is Bell Canada, and the official name for the gala is the “Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce business award brought to you by Bell,” she added.
