Nomination forms out for business awards

Although about three weeks later than expected, nominations forms are now available for the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s seventh-annual business awards.
“Unfortunately, we had a few delays with sponsor confirmation this year but we’re on track,” Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said. “Everything is set to go as normal.”
Nomination deadline is March 1.
The awards will be handed out at the annual banquet March 23 at the Red Dog Inn, and Booth is confident people once again will take the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of local businesses.
“I think this year we’ll get more nominations,” she predicted. “And that’s due to the new nomination applications.
“They’re simplified. People don’t have to write much,” she noted. “They basically have to sign the name of the nominated business or individual and sign their own name.”
Nominees then have to fill out a questionnaire.
A business or individual may be nominated for more than one award. Businesses and individuals need not be Chamber members, and can nominate themselves.
Categories include Business of the Year (one-15 employees and 16+ employees); Employee of the Year (private-sector and not-for-profit); Training and Adjustment; Abitibi-Consolidated Safety Awards (business and individual); Customer Service (business and individual); and Entrepreneur of the Year.
Sponsors include CFOB, Bell Canada, Canada Post, Bearskin Airlines, Rainy River Fire Development Corp., the Northwest Training & Adjustment Board, Good Impressions Printing, and Abitibi-Consolidated.
Nomination forms have been sent out to Chamber members. They also are available at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) or at some Chamber-affiliated businesses.
