With no suggestions submitted so far, the Rainy River District School Board still is seeking public input for the name of the new school being built to replace the aging Robert Moore.
“To date we haven’t had any put forward,” noted Superintendant of Education Heather Campbell.
“But I know that the schools are busy working with students and the parents, and we certainly are looking for some submissions,” she added.
Set to open in September, the new school—which is being built on the grounds of the Robert Moore site—will see students from both F.H. Huffman and Robert Moore together under one roof.
Collecting suggestions for the new school’s name is driven by a policy which requires any schools that are amalgamated to go through a school naming process, Campbell explained.
“We do have a committee who will be looking at the end of January to see what names are submitted and then, of course, choosing three of those names to recommend to the board of trustees to decide on one of them,” she noted.
“I do encourage the public to consider submitting a form,” Campbell added, saying the forms are available online at wwsw.rrdsb.com
Also available at the board’s website are updates on the progress being made with the construction of the new school, as well as the new school which eventually will be built at Mine Centre.
