No one hurt in house fire

The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a chimney fire just after 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday on the 900 block of Smith Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy smoke and fire in the rear of the home. The blaze was quickly knocked down and extinguished, Fire Chief Steve Richardson noted Tuesday morning.
All occupants of the home escaped uninjured, which was attributed to someone being awake at the time of the fire, the chief remarked.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home, he added.
No firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with the damage estimated to be around $105,000.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service reminds everyone of the importance of maintaining your smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms save lives, Chief Richardson stressed.
