No new fires were reported yesterday in the West Fire Region.
One active fire in the Thunder Bay District is being monitored but not posing any problems.
The fire hazard is expected to remain in the “moderate” range, and “high” in some locations, with drier weather being forecast over the next several days.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Natural Resources emergency response section continues to support storm recovery efforts in Ontario with logistics and support personnel plus 24 FireRangers, currently working in the Blue Mountain area.
Ontario also is sending another 100 firefighters and an agency representative to British Columbia today in an ongoing rotation of resource support there which began in July.
They will join the other 233 support staff, FireRangers, and incident management team members who already are in B.C.
As well, fire suppression equipment from Ontario is part of the firefighting effort in that province.
This includes thousands of lengths of fire hose, hundreds of fire pumps and pump tool kits, 70 self-supporting relay water tanks, 150 sprinkler kits, and a Values Protection Unit.
