FORT FRANCES—The Fort Frances Fire Department was called to the Abitibi-Consolidated mill office on Third Street West on Tuesday morning after the fire alarm there went off around 7:30 a.m.
But after further investigation, there was no fire to fight and employees were back to work shortly after 8.
“It wasn’t a false alarm. The alarm went off [but] it may have just picked up some air from outside,” said Fire Capt. Joe Bobczynski.
“Everything is hanging pretty low right now. It may have been a wood stove from across the street or down the street,” he added.
Capt. Bobczynski noted firefighters were on the scene for about half-an-hour to thoroughly check out the mill office building and make sure they weren’t missing anything.
As is the case in all emergencies, ambulance and police also attended the scene.
